Connecting an AI assistant doesn’t open a new door into your budget. Your assistant signs in as you, sees what you see, and can only do what you could do yourself in Etropo.
Who Can Connect
- You need an Etropo account. There’s no way to reach budget data without signing in.
- Only organization admins can connect an AI assistant
- Each person connects their own assistant. No one else can see or use your connection.
- A connection works with one organization: the one you chose when you approved it
What Your Assistant Can Access
Your assistant follows your existing Etropo permissions:
- It can only see and change data you have access to in Etropo
- Category-level access applies — if you can’t open a category in the app, your assistant can’t either
- If your role or access changes in Etropo, your assistant’s access changes with it
Your assistant can work with your budgets, line items, channels, budget versions, and Marketing Brain. It can’t make payments, change anything outside Etropo, or delete anything. See What You Can Do for the full list, including what your assistant can’t do.
You Stay in Control
You approve the connection
Nothing is shared until you sign in to Etropo and approve the connection yourself. See Approving the Connection for what the approval screen shows.
You see what changes
When your assistant updates your budget, it reports back exactly what it changed. Claude and ChatGPT also ask for your go-ahead before making changes, depending on your settings in those apps.
Changes are real
Updates made through your assistant save straight to your budget, the same as if you’d made them in the app. They can’t be undone automatically, so review what your assistant did and correct anything that looks off.
You can disconnect at any time
Remove Etropo from your AI assistant’s settings and it can no longer reach your budget.
Privacy & Security
Signing In
Your assistant connects using the same secure sign-in you use in the browser. Your Etropo password is never shared with Claude, ChatGPT, or any other AI tool. If you use two-factor authentication, it applies here too.
Data Access
- Every request your assistant makes is checked against your account and permissions
- Your organization’s data is kept separate from every other organization’s
- Your assistant only receives the data needed to answer what you asked
Data Storage
- Location: Your Etropo data is stored in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany)
- Encryption: Sensitive data is encrypted, and connections between your assistant and Etropo are encrypted too
Your AI Provider
What your assistant reads from Etropo becomes part of your conversation with it. From there, it’s handled under your AI provider’s own terms and privacy settings, the same as anything else you share in a chat. If your company has a policy on AI tools, check that it covers the assistant you’re connecting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the Claude and ChatGPT plugins official?
Yes. Both are built and maintained by Etropo, and listed in the public Claude and ChatGPT directories. You’ll find the links in Connect Your AI Assistant.
Can my teammates see my conversations?
No. Your conversations stay in your own AI assistant. Teammates do see the changes you make to the budget, the same as if you’d made them in the app.
Does my assistant keep working with my budget in the background?
No. It only reaches Etropo when you ask it something that needs your budget data.
