# Etropo in Claude, ChatGPT & Other AI Assistants

Already doing your thinking in Claude or ChatGPT? Bring your marketing budget with you. Etropo has **official plugins for both Claude and ChatGPT**, listed in each assistant's public directory. Connect once, and you can ask about your spend, compare planned versus actual, and update your budget without leaving the conversation.

## What Is MCP?

Both plugins are built on the **Model Context Protocol (MCP)**, an open standard for connecting AI assistants to the tools you already use. You don't need to know anything about it to use the plugins. It simply means Etropo isn't limited to one assistant: any AI tool that supports MCP can connect to your budget the same way.

## How It Works

1. **Add Etropo** from the Claude or ChatGPT directory, using the links above
2. **Sign in and approve** the connection on Etropo's approval screen
3. **Ask away** — your assistant now works with your organization's real budget numbers

## What You Can Do

Once connected, your assistant can read your budget and make changes for you:

- **Find line items and spend** — "Show me my social media line items and their planned spend for Q3"
- **Compare planned versus actual** — "Which line items are over budget this month?"
- **See spend by channel** — "How much is planned for paid media this quarter?"
- **Update your budget** — "Set the planned amount for TikTok Ads to $5,000 for October through December"
- **Manage approvals and ownership** — "Approve all Q2 line items under $5,000"
- **Use your Marketing Brain** — "What did we learn from last year's LinkedIn campaigns?"

Your assistant works with the same numbers you see in the app, including actuals that sync daily from connected ad platforms like Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and Meta Ads.

## Built with Your Permissions

## How This Relates to Budget Buddy

[AI Budget Buddy](https://docs.etropo.com/ai-automations/budget-buddy) is Etropo's built-in assistant, available in the web app and in Slack. The Claude and ChatGPT plugins bring the same budget data into the assistant you already use, so you can combine it with everything else you do there, like drafting a board update or planning a campaign.
